A Royal Wedding

After all...

"Every wedding is a royal wedding...

"with the bride and groom as king and queen of creation,
making new life together so that life can flow through them and into the future."
Rt. Rev. Richard Chartres, Bishop of London

Easter Egg Hunt

We finally had decent weather on Saturday for an up north Easter egg hunt.

The boys had a great time running around the yard and filling their baskets.

Liam was very good about letting Max have the "easy to find" eggs while looking for more hidden ones for himself.

Max even got a tiny football in one egg. Perfect for the future athlete!

He seemed fascinated that he kept finding these eggs all over the yard!

We like egg hunts!

When they had found all of the eggs, they both wanted to hunt again. So, my dad and Liam would take eggs out of the baskets when Max wasn't looking and hide them again! He'd yell, "I found one!" even as he saw my dad in the process of hiding them! So cute.

Milk. Now.

Max walked into my bedroom this morning lugging a gallon of milk and his empty cup. Patience is not his strong point. Neither is staying out of the fridge... :)

Happy Easter

Good Morning

Max barged back into his bedroom this morning and woke his brother up. Liam climbed sleepily down his ladder as Max yelled, "I happy to see you!" It was really cute, but really early...

Anticipation

Liam unveiling a Lego Star Wars scene for us:
"And now, the moment you've been all waiting for...! The battle droid!"

As promised...

Some more shots from The Big Event!

The foreign exchange students had a mini golf booth and they were adorable helping the boys! Liam got the hang of it pretty quickly...

Max just put the ball in the hole with his hand after awhile!

This was more his style! He was supposed to find pennies hidden in this ball pit. Yeah, right! They would show him how to find them, he'd pay close attention and then jump right back into the pile of balls! I had to pry him away from here, and he was not happy with me!

Liam loved the gymnastics circuit they had set up and did everything at least four times! Here he is practising his parallel bar routine.

Liam loves these little cut-out head things. He likes to see what it looks like from this point of view though...

So he makes Max do it for the full effect!

Big Event for Little Kids

Grandma Meg and I took the boys to The Big Event for Little Kids on Saturday. We've attended this awesome event since Liam was a year old. Encompass Childcare sponsors it and always has a ton of great things to see and do. Liam talks about The Big Event all year long, so he was super excited that the day to go again was finally here!

I was happy to not be wearing nursing scrubs for a change, and to spend some time with the boys!
We had a great time! Stay tuned for some more cute pictures and a recap of our day.
Now, it's way too nice to be inside, so we're going OUT!

An Historian

Aaron and I have been watching The Civil War by Ken Burns every night on PBS. I love it, for it was the war that made me fall in love with him. Well, listening to him talk about the war at least, or listening to him talk about any kind of history. Or just listening to him talk...

Anyway, we've had fun watching the documentary and talking about the war. We're planning a trip to visit all the Civil War battlefields someday with Aaron as personal tour guide. I was surprised at how much information I recalled from stories Aaron has told me over the years. Sometimes I ask him to tell me a Civil War story before bed (what, everyone does that, right?!) and I drift off to sleep with thoughts of Jenny Wade or the Iron Brigade. He really is the best teacher, and I love how excited he gets to talk about his favorite subject.

So...not sure what I'm writing this all down for except it's just what I'm thinking about this morning. I have the day off and plan to spend it with my two favorite boys and my favorite historian. Should be good!

Clever Kids

Liam called me in to see his name spelled out with Lincoln Logs yesterday!

And this morning Max hauled all of his bedding, pillows and stuffed animals to the living room.
I asked him what he was doing and he said, "Duckin!" - which is what he calls his pacifier. So, he knows he can only have his pacifier while sleeping, and decided to create a bed in the living room so he could have it! Little stinker!

A Visit to Auntie's

Liam and I surprised Auntie Kimmy a few weeks ago by bringing him along to visit! She thought it would just be me coming to spend the night, but Liam tagged along, too! He was so excited to surprise her! We decided to check out the Betty Brinn Children's Museum for a good part of the day and had a great time!

The museum has tons of hands-on exhibits where kids can pretend to do real "grown up" things. Here's Liam riding a bus!

And dressing in costume for his debut as a knight!

Or a firefighter!

Here we are "fishing" with magnetic fishing poles!

Making shadow puppets!

And Liam's favorite - shopping at the grocery store!

We had a great time!
